BMW M3 Coupe

The soul of Formula M: reloaded.

The new BMW M3 Coupé.

The fourth generation - 20 years and still designed to thrill. The new BMW M3 Coupé continues the tradition of the M GmbH to build a perfect high-performance sports car. It comes with a completely new V8 engine and drivetrain, a lightweight body that is also extremely stiff, a lowered centre of gravity and a carbon roof, which while just as strong as a steel roof, weighs far less. And of course, everything has been tried and tested on the toughest proving ground in the world, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

The beauty of dynamics.

The exterior of the new BMW M3 Coupé.

With a vehicle as powerful and dynamic as this, styling is never an aim in itself. Form will always be driven by functional considerations. The expressive front is designed to accommodate the V8 high-rev engine. The muscular rear allows for the wider track and four tailpipes. Even the shape of the exterior mirrors adds to the overall aerodynamics. Only the interplay of all these measures ensures the desired effect: sports car performance that is ideally suited to everyday driving.

Wind power.

The aerodynamics of the new BMW M3 Coupé.

The optimised aerodynamics in the BMW M3 Coupé ensures that downforce is both cooled and increased at the same time. The left opening near the powerdome channels additional air to the intake air plenum. The M rear apron with diffuser ensures controlled airflow along the car’s underbody. And the M front air dam with integrated air inlets cools the engine. The result? Added downforce for added thrills.

Kept in good memory.

The M Drive function.

M Drive enables drivers to program a host of the BMW M3 Coupé's functions to suit their individual preferences. These functions include the Digital Motor Electronics (DME system), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Damper Control (EDC), Servotronic steering and the engine. Just one touch of the M Drive button on the steering wheel and all preselected settings are reactivated - for exceptionally comfortable or exceptionally dynamic driving

Reliability where you need it most.

High-performance compound brakes.

Developed and tested on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife: the high-performance compound brakes fulfil the toughest of requirements on braking deceleration, durability, wet-weather performance and heat response - requirements usually only met by a sports car. These fully floating and perforated brakes react quickly and precisely and thanks to the cross-drilled brake disc and partial use of aluminium, the system is incredibly lightweight. The result? A high-performance braking system for better everyday suitability.

The V8 high-rev engine.

Combining racing technology with everyday usability, the V8 high-rev engine is full of BMW M3 Coup̩ personality. Every component has been carefully optimised to result in this impressive set of figures: maximum output of up to 8,400 rpm, 420 bhp and top torque of 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm. And that's not all, individual throttle butterflies, normally only found in race cars, allow for faster response and additional performance benefits Рan absolute engineering highlight for a road car engine.
